How to upcycle an old wood pallet into a garden walkway

Sometimes you need to endure tough times to gain a better sense of who you are. And such was the case for savvy DIY blogger Donna of Funky Junk Interiors, who decided to start her life over with "little funds or knowledge," yet eventually wound up turning her thriftiness into a full-time career as a blogger.
On her website, she notes that "curbside diving and thrifting became my shopping mall. And creating with my finds ending up producing one of a kind creations." Below is one of these very do-it-yourself projects, and this time, she took her creativity outside:

For this garden pathway project, Donna used wood pieces from an old wood pallet. She simply cleared out the selected patch of soil and dug out enough dirt to create a level area for the wood pieces to fit in snugly.
The end result? A quaint (and functional) walkway made from materials that might otherwise have gone to waste! You can find Donna's full DIY process on her website.
If you're in the mood to restyle your yard, why stop with a pathway? Pallet or box wood can also be used to create birdcages, rustic lantern holders, potting benches, or containers to grow your garden. You can even use pieces of a wood pallet to fashion a creative sign with some glow-in-the-dark paint. Let whimsy be your guide.

Before you wrinkle your nose at the next ugly lamp you see, ask yourself: where might this lamp base look good? Outdoors, perhaps?
