How to make a DIY lamp from a Disney store playset

Sometimes, the beauty of a DIY project is in its simplicity. When Imgur user downtwobane received a set of action figures from his sister for his birthday, he decided to create some fun themed DIY decor by gluing them to a lamp. It's a perfect piece for a superhero fan of any age! The best part? Despite being so inexpensive to create, it looks like a million bucks when it's all finished.
If you're thinking about creating something like this, finding the right lamp is the most important step. The base needs to be wide enough to accommodate whatever is being glued there, as well as sturdy enough to stay balanced, regardless of whatever is glued to the column.

All downtwobane needed was the set of action figures and a lamp, in addition to super adhesive glue, primer and gold spray paint. He paid $2 for the lamp at a thrift store!
To make yours, first arrange the action figures however you want them on your lamp. Glue them into place on the base and up the column in a way that pleases you. After the glue dries, spray the entire thing with primer.
When the primer is dry, spray again, this time with the paint. It's better to do several light coats than one heavy coat, to ensure an even covering and prevent dripping.
Whether you go with classic gold, like downtwobane, or add attitude with the color of the column -- pastel and pretty or bright and bold -- the lamp will be truly one of a kind!
When the paint is dry, top it off with the shade you like best, and you're done!
If you want to dress up the shade, you can cover it with fabric or decoupage

This simple technique works with whatever you (or your kids) are obsessed with: superheroes, Disney princesses, animals, or sports. Have fun!
