How to make a DIY terracotta pot wreath

Wreaths are a common form of decoration that can be found on a home's front door. While you typically associate a wreath on the front door with Christmas time, not all wreaths need to be made from pine tree branches and adorned with ribbon or pine cones. Nowadays, with the trend of using everyday household items to decorate, wreaths can be a nice way to achieve that rustic look.
Using some common terracotta gardening pots, Jeanne from Bees Knees Bungalow created a unique door decoration that you could proudly display year-round. Using a wire frame to map out the circular form, the beauty of the wreath is that it's entirely customizable. Using different sized pots or different types of small potted plants, you can make a wreath that's entirely your own and a perfect way to greet guests.

Any variety of used or old terracotta plant pots can be used for Jeanne's project. You can keep all the sizes the same (big or small) or vary/alternate different sized pots like Jeanne did here.
Once you've got your arrangement of pots laid out you can begin attaching them to the wire frame that will hang on your door. Jeanne used metal wire looped through the hole at the bottom of the pot and up through the top to fasten each pot to the frame. Alternatively you could probably craft your own frame from wood and tie each pot with even a few plastic zip ties.
Leave your pots the way they are (all chipped and covered in dirt) or paint them like Bees Knees Bungalow did here to give the pots a personal touch. Fill each pot with dirt and succulents or fill every other pot before hanging it on your door.
Depending on how strong your door hook is, you'd probably not want to put a plant in every pot to keep your wreath from being too heavy. Another plus to this wreath is that you could even change the plants on the wreath seasonally. Want some flowers for spring? Replace the succulents. Need plants for a drier environment, then why not plant a cactus or two? That's the beauty of this DIY project!
