DIYer drills brackets into wooden boards, creating an oh-so-lovely accent for the home

It seems everywhere you look these days; shiplap is front and center. If you want to get in on the shiplap trend, but you aren't entirely sure you want to redo your whole home; there are options for you. You can create touches of shiplap in your home that will refresh your look without jumping in headfirst to an entire room or floor with redone walls.
One of the reasons shiplap is so popular right now is its versatility. The clean look creates a bright atmosphere and also can be personalized in any way you want. So, let's dive right in! What better way to add a touch of shiplap than a rustic chic sign you make yourself and hang on any wall?

1. Rustic shiplap personalized sign
Kristi at Making it in the Mountains created this lovely sign in just a few quick steps. You will need power tools for this one, but I can tell you from experience that they're so much easier than using a screwdriver.
If you don't already have a nice drill/driver, I highly recommend adding one to your arsenal. You won't regret it! This sign can also be personalized to say anything your heart desires; I like the idea of doing a few smaller ones to spell out a short phrase as well.
2. Shiplap headboard to bring the bedroom from boring to chic
This gorgeous headboard by Kristy at Starfish Cottage shows just how versatile shiplap is as an accent piece. It really brings out the pops of white in the room. The horizontal lines also make the bed look wide and comfy. This stylish headboard could really bring your bedroom to a whole new level with just one simple project.
3. Fireplace makeover using shiplap creates a whole new look
Holly at Creatively Living got this beautiful fireplace shiplap wall completed in just one weekend! I love how it goes all the way up and even makes the ceiling look taller. It's really amazing what a few boards and some paint can do to add a design element to a bare wall or to make a fireplace pop. I am thinking about doing this in my basement and mounting our tv in the open space. There are so many options with this sleek look!
4. Shiplap laundry room makeover
Kelly wrote about this laundry room makeover on Under Texas Sky, and it is definitely an improvement over the existing laundry wall. Shiplap can create a great accent wall to draw interest to one area of the room. The DIY shelves she made pop nicely against the white of the shiplap. Easy peasy gorgeous!
5. Simple stylish shiplap accent wall
Tracy at Right Up My Alley did an accent wall in a laundry room, but I love the hooks she added for extra storage. This would also work very nicely in an entryway or mudroom. Shiplap is so versatile; you can style it in just about any way to create a unique look in your home.
