Watch how to plan color pooling with spectacular results

Watch the video above to learn everything you need to do to crochet planned color pooling!
Planned color pooling is a method of stitching certain variegated yarns to result in an argyle or plaid-like effect. This technique is perfect for pretty scarves with lots of detail — no color changes needed!
You need a few things to make planned pooling work:
- Variegated yarn, with each color lasting 10 to 12 inches before the next color change
- A hook that matches the recommendation on the yarn label
- Even, consistent tension

For my planned color pooling scarf featured at the end of the above video, I used three skeins of Lion Brand Color Waves in Playground (plus some fun pom poms). You can use any brand of yarn that fits the criteria mentioned in the video.
To achieve this look, all you need to know are single crochet and chain stitch; everything else is left up to consistent tension.

Pro tip: I have a special fix for correcting uneven tension using a "cheat stitch" that isn't noticeable in the finished project! See the video for help on correcting uneven tension.
