Materials
You'll want your curtain light so choose a fine yarn. A pure cotton fingering yarn is good as it can be washed. Pick a hook to match - for the cafe curtain here you'll need an F-5 or 3.75mm hook and six 50g balls of yarn.

Rep row 2 8 times. Fasten off leaving long end for sewing.
Loop Two
With right side facing, working in last row of curtain, skip next 11 dc, join with sl st to next dc.
Work rows 1-10 of first loop.
Third Loop
With right side facing, working in last row of the curtain, skip next 12 dc, join with sl st to next dc.
Work rows 1-10 of first loop. Repeat second and third loops twice more (9 loops). Fold each loop and using long ends and tapestry needle, join last row worked to top of row 3, forming loop. Fasten off. Weave in all ends.

Materials
The gorgeous flowers that make up this valance curtain are in a beautiful variety of colors, which makes this a great project to use up oddments. Having said that, your final curtain will look better if all the yarns are the same type and weight. Cotton yarn is a good idea for a curtain that you'll probably want to wash at some point - you don't want any shrinkage pulling your work out of shape. Look for a yarn that takes a 5mm H/8 hook if you want the flowers to turn out the same size as in the tutorial.

Written pattern
For each flower
Row 1: make a magic loop, then ch 3 (counts as first dc), then 11 dc into loop. Join with sl st to third ch of beginning ch 3. Fasten off if you are changing colors.
Row 2: join the next color in any dc. Ch 4 (counts as your first dc and ch 1). Dc ch 1 around each st. Join with sl st in the third ch of the beginning ch 4 to close round. Do not fasten off.
Row 3: sl st into the first ch 1 space. Ch 3, 2 dc in the same ch 1 space. 3 dc in each ch 1 space around. Sl st to the 3rd ch of the beginning ch 3 to close round. Fasten off if you are changing colors. 36 dc (3 in each space).
Row 4: join next color in any dc. Ch 3 dc in same stitch ch 4, *skip over one dc, 2 dc in next st, 2dc in next st chain 4*. Repeat from * to * around until last 2 st, sk 1 st, 2dc in last st. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch 3. The ending join should be between the 2 sets of dc. Don't fasten off.
Row 5: make 8 dc in chain 4 sp. Skip 2 dc, sl st in between the 2 sets of dc. sk 2dc, 8 dc in next ch 4 sp. Repeat around. To end, round sl st in beginning st and fasten off.
Assemble as follows:
Row 1: 8 full flowers
Row 2: half flower, 7 full flowers, half flower.
Row 3: 2 full flowers on each side
