100-year-old lifehacks that are still so useful today

Over the last few years, "lifehacks" have become extremely popular; little tips and tricks to make life that little bit easier are popping up all over the internet. But lifehacks are nothing new - it turns out they've been around for over a hundred years!
The New York Public Library have digitized a series of lifehacks that were printed on cigarette cards in the early 1900s. There are a hundred cards in the collection, and all are available to look at via the New York Public Library digital collections. Sure, a couple of them may be a little dated - like tightening the top of a fountain pen, or measuring things with a sixpence coin - but they're an amazing look into life in the early 1900s, and most are still relevant today!
