You're doing it all wrong. Here is the right way to fold socks

There are a few problems that plague households around the world. One of them is the missing sock dilemma. There's debate as to just how socks end up disappearing. Some say they're in the dryer. Some say a sock-monster of sorts eats them in the night.
But we think one of the real problems is that not folding socks properly means that socks get loose and lost in drawers, sometimes falling between the cracks never to be seen again.

If you're like most of the population, you probably fold your socks by grabbing them at the top, putting them together, and folding one edge of one sock over the other. While this method is easy, you probably already know it's not all that tight. So, here are two super simple and secure ways to fold your socks. Hopefully, you'll never lose a pair in your drawer again.
1. Long socks
Firstly, folding long socks the regular way wastes a lot of space in your drawers. Since these socks are usually thicker (like those long socks you wear with boots during the fall and winter), they're long and bulky when folded up the typical way, leaving little room for anything else.
Blogger Klara Egilson has figured out the ultimate hack, though. By folding these long socks flat and into a rectangular shape, you can actually easily fit them in your drawer. This method makes it much easier to see what you're actually looking for. Finally, this method is nice and tight and secure: no loose socks floating around anymore.
1) Place your long socks on top of one another in a cross shape.
2) Fold each side into the middle of the cross where they intersect.
3) The end result should be so the top of the socks (where your foot normally goes in) are folded with one facing down, and the other facing up.
4) Finally, tuck the top of the socks into the folds you have already created to make a nice, flat, rectangular little sock fold.

2. Sports socks
Sports socks are much easier to lose. When you fold them the normal way, there just isn't enough fabric to keep them together. When you rummage around in your drawer, they easily separate from one another, leaving you with fewer socks than you started out with.
But keeping them together is much easier than you realized, thanks to this awesome tutorial by blogger Tammi. The steps are similar to the long sock tutorial above, but modified for these little ankle-hugging socks. Here's what you need to do.
These simple steps won't just keep your socks together. They're also going to save you a ton of room in your drawers. The days of searching through a large, mismatched pile of socks are going to be a thing of the past!
