These makeup hacks may seem weird, but they work! Don't just take it from us - we've collected some of the best beauty tips out there from the experts. These hacks are tried and true, so as bizarre as they may be, we're convinced to give them a try!
Keep reading to see how you can eliminate under eye circles with lipstick (yes, you read that right!), and how you can make your clumpy mascara smooth again! We think these makeup hacks are going to seriously surprise you!
1. Dunk for long-lasting makeup
Get your makeup to last all day with this bizarre trick from Today. After applying your concealer and foundation as you normally would, coat your face with baby powder. After you're "powdered up", dunk your face in a bowl of cold water for 30 seconds. You will emerge powder free and with smaller looking pores. Plus, your makeup will last all day!
2. Powder lengthens your lashes
You'd probably never think to put translucent powder on your lashes, but dusting a bit on your eyelashes between coats of mascara can actually make them longer! Baby powder works too!
3. Unclump your mascara
If your mascara is starting to clump up, use this hack from Natalies Outlet. Start by putting it in a warm cup of water. If it's still on the clumpy side, add a few eye drops or drops of contact solution. That's right - this will make your mascara smoother to apply and will minimize clumping!
4. Warm up your eyelash curler
Love the effect you get from an eyelash curler, but hate how it doesn't last long? Try blasting your eyelash curler with your hair dryer for a few seconds before curling your lashes. This will make the curl last all day! Just be careful to check that it's not too hot before curling your lashes.
5. Rub and ice cube on your face
Before applying makeup, rub and ice cube on your face to minimize your pores and to get glowing skin.
6. Use a spoon for perfectly winged eyeliner
This technique from Harper's Bazaar shows you how to get perfectly smoky eyes in a cinch. Draw a hashtag with eyeliner and blend. That's it!
7. Line your eyes in white
Stop lining the inside of your lash line with black - it makes your eyes appear smaller! Instead, line the inner lash line with white for bigger looking eyes!
8. Use lipstick to conceal dark circles
If we told you that you can use red lipstick to conceal dark under eye circles, you probably wouldn't believe us, right? Well, check out this tutorial from Makeup.com to see it in action and for help choosing the right lipstick shade for you. You won't believe how well it works!
9. Bend your mascara brush
A straight mascara brush can inhibit your ability to really get in there. Take it from The Beauty Department and bend yours to a 90 degree angle for the best application.
10. Scotch tape eye stencil
Use Scotch tape as a stencil when applying eye makeup to get a clean line, especially when putting on liquid eyeliner!
