Grab a bunch of screws. Here are 11 ways to add a little curb appeal to your home

Let's talk a bit about curb appeal. People often forget that a person's first impression about your home starts right at the curb. It's important to put just as much effort into the outside of your home as you do inside.
If the front of your home could use a bit of a face lift, I have just the list for you! Here are 11 ways you can add a bit of curb appeal to your home. These simple and relatively inexpensive projects can give your home a new look.

1. Friendly door mat
Let your guests know right from the front step that they are welcome. You can buy a door mat, but if you're like me and would rather DIY one, here is a great tutorial for you. Plus, if you DIY your own, you can make it say whatever you want!
2. Rock covered bucket
Pretty pots for your plants often come with a bit of a price tag. You don't have to sacrifice style for your wallet anymore. These step-by-step instructions will walk you through the process of making your own rock covered buckets that look just like something you would find at a home improvement store.
3. Light fixture upgrade
If your outside lights still work but are looking a little shabby, don't run out and buy new ones — a little bit of paint can go a long way. This blogger used a bit of Rust-Oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint and brought her old light back to life.
4. House number pots
This DIY pulls double duty — let people know your house number all while displaying your favorite flowers, too! Grab some paint, stencils and terra cotta pots. It's time to get crafting!
5. Electrical box upgrade
It's discouraging when you have things on your house like electrical boxes. You need these things but they're a bit of an eyesore. Make them blend in with your house by painting them. Sure you'll still be able to see it, but it'll look a lot better!
6. Painted door knobs
I have this thing against brass finishes — they just look a little dated. You can easily upgrade them with a bit of paint. Similar to the light fixture upgrade from earlier on this list.
7. Tree ring
If you have a large tree taking up prime real estate on your front yard, make it a little more appealing by building a tree ring around it. A little accessory for your tree, if you will.
8. Ladder decor
Don't forget to decorate your front porch! A pop of color can make all the difference in the world — just look at these gorgeous yellow flowers on this branch ladder. With something like this, you could even switch out the flowers depending on the season.
9. Painted porch
Stencil a pattern on the floor of your front porch. A trendy design can really bring up the curb appeal and make your house look magazine worthy. This is a bit of a time consuming project, but the results are gorgeous!
10. Modern house numbers
Ditch the traditional house numbers and go for something a little more modern. Gather up a ton of screws, follow this tutorial and you can recreate these numbers on the front of your house.
11. Paint your front door
Last but not least, don't forget your front door! A fresh pop of color will make your home seem more inviting and cheery. I know that yellow is not for everyone, though. What color would you love to paint your door?
