We all make mistakes sometimes, especially when it comes to makeup application. Some are harmless and just affect the finished result, but you might be making mistakes that can actually hurt your eyes in the long run.
In order to put your best face forward, take a look at these seven tips. We've tried to help you emphasize your eyes without harming yourself along the way. After all, eye health should always come first.

1. Only use eye products on your eye area
This should be a no-brainer, but YouTube vloggers have been known to apply all sorts of products on their eyelids for effect. Keep in mind that every makeup product goes through specific testing to ensure it's safe for your eye area. If something's meant for lips, only use it there.

2. Don't skip your brows
We all get busy, but skipping your brows can make your eyes look unfinished. Brows frame and help define your look, so be sure to touch them up with either powder or pencil and set them in place before heading out the door.

3. Tightlining creates lash volume
While lining your upper lash line provides a certain amount of definition, you can make your eyelashes look fuller and thicker if you tightline instead. Simply fill in the space below and between your lashes with a kohl pencil. You'll get a more defined look instantly.

4. Use white pencil to make eyes look bigger
If your eyes look small, you can fake a wide-awake look. Try applying white liner on your lower waterline.

5. Avoid heavy lower liner
If you're looking to give some definition to your undereye area, try using shadow instead of liner. The effect will be softer, and it won't make your eye appear smaller. Tip: Opt to emphasize the area from the outer corner to the middle of your eye. The gap in shadow will reflect the light and make you look more alert.

6. Curl your lashes before applying mascara
You wouldn't use a curling iron on wet hair, would you? Of course not! Curling your lashes is a preparatory step...one you do before you apply mascara. Do it in the wrong order, and you'll end up with clumpy mascara and may even lose a few lashes in the process.

7. Start removing your mascara smarter
It probably took you more than a few seconds to apply your eye makeup, so be gentle when it comes time to remove it. Tugging and pressing hard on this delicate area can lead to lash loss and wrinkles. Try an oil-based cleanser or makeup remover and be patient and kind to your eyes.
