3+ fun science experiments that you can do with drinking straws

Straws may be one of the most widely used and underappreciated eating/ drinking items made. People use straws all of the time, especially when buying fast food, and it is one of the first utensils you learn to use a baby, but these experiments show that straws can be used for so much more than drinking.
These are a few fun science experiments that use drinking straws.
Simple experiment with straws (h/t TheDadLab)
This is a very simple experiment that shows what happens when you blow air into a sealed bottle with various amounts of tubes (straws). Observe the results and see what you can conclude from this experiment.

The water race (h/t HooplaKidzLab)
Do you know what happens when you take two water bottles filled with water, the tops of those bottles, some blue tack and three straws of varying length? If you don’t know what happens, watch this experiment and you will learn how these supplies can make water race. Once you watch the video, give it a try yourself!
A straw siphon (h/t How to…Science, Crafts)
A siphon is a tube used to carry liquids up from a reservoir and then down to a body of water at a lower level. This process works either by immersion or suction. It can also mean to simply take away. This scientist uses supplies like straws, tape and a water bottle full of colored water to show you how to siphon the liquid from one bottle and put it in another container. Watch the video in its entirety before giving it a try.
