How to turn a blank canvas into a watercolor painting

If you love watercolors, you should try creating artwork for your home. You don't have to be a high-quality artist to make a piece that will add a splash of color.
Although this DIY project shows working with straight lines, there's no reason why you can't use splotches or some other shapes for something different. Sprinkling it with salt adds a textured element to the finished project. Enjoy learning how to turn a blank canvas into a watercolor masterpiece that is limited only by your imagination.
- Stretched white cotton canvas
- Watercolor pallet
- Flat watercolor brush
- Water
- Salt
1. Wet the brush and saturate the color on the pallet you want to use for the first stripe.
2. Paint a stripe about 1 inch wide across the top of the canvas.
3. Rinse the brush and chose a second color.
4. Paint a second stripe.
5. Take a pinch of salt and sprinkle it across both stripes.
6. Repeat steps three through five until the entire canvas is covered.
7. Once the paint is dry, gently brush the salt off the canvas.
Now that your masterpiece is finished, put it up and enjoy it.
