Get ready to cut the backrest off an old chair. Here are 5+ stunning chair DIYs

Most people tend to get rid of their old chairs when they buy a new set, but that's the last thing you should do. There are so many neat things you can turn them into, including garden planters, side tables and ice bucket holders.
If you don't have any old chairs, you might have to go out and find one, because you're definitely going to be inspired after you check out these projects.
1. Garden planter
This upcycled chair planter adds a bit of rustic charm to the garden. You could use it to display almost any kind of plant or flower, but check out the succulent arrangement shown below. If you don't have space outside, this planter could be used inside your home. Just make sure no one sits on it.
2. Side table
No one will ever guess that this cute coastal-style side table used to be a chair. If you have two matching chairs, you'll probably want to make a set of tables. Check out the video to see how it's done.
3. Towel rack
What are you supposed to do with an old chair that has a broken seat but a beautiful back? Make it into a new towel rack, of course. The finished project will be equally at home in a bathroom or the kitchen.
4. Bench seating
This bench provides useful seating in an entryway, out on a front porch or in a child's room. Not much has to be done with the chairs themselves for this project; the real work lies in making the bench cushion. The benefit of this project, however, is that you'll be able to remove the bench part and use the chairs again if necessary.
5. Beverage holder
It's the season for patio drinks, and there's no better way to enjoy them than from a fun ice bucket such as this one. This is a very simple project if you have the right equipment, and you'll be able to use it all summer long.
6. Chalkboard-style tray
Save walls and create a table your kids can actually draw on with this project. Paint a drawing surface on the top with chalkboard paint. If you want to add a little decorative touch, create a border with upholstery tacks. Check out how this is done in the video below.
7. Two-crate ottoman
An ottoman creates both a place to rest your feet and a place for storage. Learn how to make it with the video below.
