How to make watermelon cutoff shorts

Watermelon is one of my favorite summer fruits. It's sweet and juicy, and its cheerful pink color always makes me happy. I thought there was nothing better than eating a piece of watermelon, but these adorable shorts proved me wrong.
They're easy enough to make even if you've never worked with fabric dye before, and they're sure to bring a ton of compliments when you wear them. Watch the video and read the instructions to learn how to make a pair for yourself.

Materials
- Two pitchers
- Green fabric dye
- Fuchsia fabric dye
- Hot water
- Two squeeze bottles
- Funnel
- Sheet of plastic
- Denim shorts
- Painter's tape
- Protective gloves
- Black fabric marker
Instructions
1. Mix the green dye and the fuchsia dye according to the manufacturer's instructions in two separate containers.
2. Use the funnel to fill each squeeze bottle with a different color of dye.
3. Lay a sheet of plastic over the work surface to protect it and and place the shorts on the sheet.
4. Place a strip of painter's tape approximately two-thirds of the way up the shorts, and put on gloves to prevent the dye from staining your fingers.
5. Cover the entire bottom portion of the shorts with fuchsia dye.
6. Remove the painter's tape and place another piece an inch or so above where the first piece was.
7. Completely cover the upper portion of the shorts with the green dye.
8. Peel off the tape, and rinse and dry the shorts according to the instructions on the dye package.
9. Draw watermelon seeds on the pink part of the shorts with the black fabric marker.
