Materials
- 6 pallets
- Electric sander
- Electric drill
- Screws
- Clamps
- Boards
- Rectangular plate washers
- Shellac
- Paintbrush
Instructions
1. Sand all the pallets to get rid of splinters and rough bits.
2. Bring the pallets into your bedroom, and place four of them on the floor to create a rectangular bed frame.
3. Predrill holes for screws to hold the pallets together so they don't slip when you put the mattress on. Drill at least two holes per pallet, and use clamps to hold the pallets together as necessary while using the drill.
4. Place the remaining two pallets at the top of the bed to create a headboard. Screw them together by predrilling holes and putting in the screws.
5. Line up a board with the front edge of the headboard and use a clamp to hold it in place. Drive a screw through the back of the pallet to secure the board.
6. Place another board along the front top edge of the same pallet and screw it in place as described in step 5.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the pallet on the other side of the headboard.
8. Screw on rectangular plate washers where the boards meet for additional strength.
9. Coat the entire bedframe with shellac and wait for it to dry before placing the mattress on its new frame.
