Materials
- Piece of wood
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Nails
- Hammer
- Embroidery floss or colored string
- Scissors
- Cotton twine
Instructions
1. Use a ruler and a pencil to mark the places on the wood you want to put nails to form an arrow shape. The ruler will help ensure that the design is symmetrical.
2. Hammer a nail into each of the pencil marks, leaving a good portion of each nail exposed so that string can easily be wrapped around it.
3. Choose the first color of floss or string and tie it around the nail at the tip of the arrow. Wrap it around the nails that make up the head of the arrow, being sure to cover the inside of the design as well.
4. Choose a second color of floss or string and wrap it around the nails that make up the tail of the arrow.
5. Use a third color of floss or string to create the body of the arrow.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 with a second board and three different colors of floss or string.
7. Place one board under the other with the two arrows facing in opposite directions. Attach them with cotton twine, wrapping it several times around each board on both sides.
