How to make a necklace 2 ways with bobby pins

As old as time itself, necklaces are a staple in self-adornment. Some of the earliest examples were made of stones or seashells. Later, beads and pottery would take over. As history moved on, necklaces evolved, often matching their look to the style of the time and the socioeconomic standing of the wearer. As we’ve moved into our own modern age, jewelry is accessible at any price and tools to create jewelry are easy to find.
One of the best parts about creating your own jewelry is the chance to personalize it to exactly what you like. This is especially relevant with necklaces, which can vary significantly in length and style when purchased from a store. You might have the perfect necklace in your mind but can’t find something like it anywhere! Instead of searching and winding up disappointed, you can create your own statement necklace just using bobby pins and a necklace chain. We have two variations in this tutorial. Feel free to try both and use your own creativity to make it completely unique to you.

Instructions
TIP: This project is easier to do with a snake chain or any necklace chain that is smooth and without links.
1. Layout your necklace chain with a section in the middle pulled straight horizontally. Pull a longer bobby pin open and pull your necklace chain through it so it hangs in the middle.

2. Repeat step 1 with a couple more long bobby pins.

3. Once you have three of your longer bobby pins in the center, follow the same process in step one with shorter bobby pins.

4. Once you have the shorter bobby pins on, add more of the long bobby pins. This will create a pattern. It can be any pattern you like. We chose to use three long bobby pins followed by three short bobby pins, then repeated.

5. You can stop with just a couple repeats of your pattern, or you can continue it to create more of a bib-style necklace.
