See how easy it is to transform a couple of pallets in the cutest reading bed

Ashley, from Ashley Ann Photography demonstrates how, sometimes, you just need a little bit creativity to transform the most dull-looking materials into gorgeous pieces. A perfect example of this is the beautiful reading bed she made for the nursery of her coming baby girl. The project couldn't be easier; so easy that even an expecting mother is totally able to do it (she had a little help with the sanding from her oldest son C., as she explains in her blog).
Basically, the process consists in finding the pallets you think are best for your project.  In case you're worried about the pallets being safe for reuse, there are some precautions you can take, as shared by Instructables. Then, you just have to sand them and attach the wheels in case you want your reading bed to be mobile. If that's not the case, you could also glue 4 square wooden blocks to the bottom part of the pallet.

Ashley chose an old door as a headboard and then used a handmade quilt and a blanket from Ikea. Basically, this part of the process is more up to your imagination, creativity and taste. Is Ashley's look too colorful for you? Then you can opt to paint the pallet a darker color and then cover it with a more discreet blanket. The possibilities here are endless!
You can do something a little bit more complicated, like in the example below, by Kojo Designs. The corner-shape makes it perfect for a small space in the kids' room. This project would require some skills, tools and paint, but the result is worth it, don't you think?
Another very easy possibility to design and make your own pallet reading bed is this one, shared by Minimalisti. It's a very similar idea to the one shared by Ashley. Just sand the pallets and add a mattress, a cover for it, and some cute pillows. The difference is that, in this case, they've chosen to pile some pallets to give the bed some height, turning it into something more similar to a rustic sofa.
