How to crochet the puff stitch

The puff stitch is a simple stitch evocative of a half double crochet with some repeats. It creates an interesting look with fluffy texture and is ideal for blankets, home decor items and wearables.

Materials
1. Any weight yarn. In the video I use worsted weight.
2. Crochet hook in the appropriate size for the yarn used. I used a 5 mm.
Pro tip: Loosen your tension to finish the stitch easier — when pulling through all of those loops on your hook, things can get tight easily.

ch - chain
sk - skip
st(s) - stitch(es)
puff - puff stitch
yo - yarn over
rep - repeat
t - turn

Begin with any even number of ch sts — I ch 16
Row 1: In 2nd ch from hook, work puff ([yo, insert hook, pull up a loop] 4 times, yo pull through 9 loops on hook, ch 1 to secure), sk 1, *puff, sk 1, rep from * across, ch 1, t
Row 2: Puff in top of puff from row 1 (see video for visual aid), sk to top of next puff st and puff, rep across, ch 1, t
Repeat row 2 until desired length.
