Learn all about the gorgeous stitch taking the runway by storm (video tutorial & chart)

If you like to work with a finer yarn and create lacy styles, a new pattern seems to have taken hold of the crochet world. The name, as best as can be discovered, is "Dolce & Gabbana Lace." According to Dolce & Gabbana's website, DG is a fashion line developed by two Mediterranean designers and caters to Hollywood stars and rock artists. The lacy fabric that the designers have been using in current outfits has caught the attention of "crocheters," and they have been hard at work trying to duplicate what they see.
No formal patterns have been released by the designer fashion company, but as individuals have developed stitches that closely resemble the ones used in outfits, patterns have been drawn up and released on the internet.

What can you create with the "Dolce & Gabanna lace" stitch?
If you start searching for patterns, you will find a number of different ones under the same name, Dolce & Gabbana Lace. One of the most popular, also by Beautiful Crochet Stuff, is pictured below.
Crochet Kingdom's version of Dolce & Gabbana Lace appears a little daunting until you see the pattern. The pattern is simply made up of chain stitches, single crochets, and double crochets. You do need to be certain to keep your counts accurate.
MyPicot has a different lace pattern from the DG line. This pattern still uses just the chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet; but the double crochets are placed in shell groupings.
Crochet Patterns' version is very similar to Crochet Kingdom's, but it has widened out the curved portion. With each of these patterns, only the three aforementioned stitches are used.
This pattern from MyPicot shows the stitches. Once you have completed the basic design, you create your outfit by repeating the pattern over and over.
