Hot-glue broken crayons to a white pumpkin to make a seriously creative Halloween decoration

There's no reason not to get into the pumpkin-decorating mood this Halloween! Even if you're more crafty than carve-y, there are a myriad of ways to make your pumpkins colorful, creepy or just plain festive.
Melted crayons
Use a hot glue gun to attach pieces of broken crayons to your pumpkin, about one-quarter of the distance from its top. A hair dryer or heat gun will melt the crayons and can blow the drips into different directions and eerie designs. See the SoCraftastic video below for detailed instructions.

Bats
Cut black ribbon into strips about four inches (10.2 centimeters) long. Tie a loose knot in the middle, then trim the ends into three-pointed wing shapes. Pin them to your pumpkin to create a swarming design!
Thumbtack letters
Metallic thumbtacks add shine to this project from Country Living. Paint your pumpkin the color of your choice, then write your word in pencil or with a marker, making sure the letters are large enough to read. Push the thumbtacks along the line of the letters. Consider BOO or EEK, or use three pumpkins to write TRICK OR TREAT.
Masquerade
There's no disguising the simplicity of this Good Housekeeping decor idea. Attach a masquerade mask to your pumpkin, and you've already got a cool decoration -- but imagine what it would look like with glowing eyes! To get this effect, hollow out the pumpkin and cut holes where the mask's eyes will fall. When a light is inserted into the empty gourd, an eerie light will gleam through the mask!
