How to tube sew for quilting (video tutorial)

Whether you're a seasoned sewer or a beginning quilter, finding quick ways to create beautiful quilting designs are always a plus. Jenny from the Missouri Star Quilt Company walks viewers through the art of tube quilting. Although the Missouri Star Quilt Company specializes in providing supplies for quilting, Jenny is an avid quilter herself and loves to share great quilting tips and techniques via the company's YouTube channel.
Jenny states that she learned about tube quilting from the company's forum. Someone was discussing a technique called strip tubing shown by Cozy Quilt Designs. Jenny demonstrates the technique in the step-by-step video below. All you need to try this is three types of material and an Omnigrid ruler.

Jenny takes the time to share some secrets to succeeding with this technique. First up, be sure to use contrasting colors for the two two-and-a-half-inch strips. Pick a light fabric that contains some of your contrasting colors for the four-and-one-quarter-inch piece. Second, if you are left-handed, you will cut the tube starting at the left end. If you are right-handed, you begin cutting the tube at the right end.

The results of this technique are stunning. You end up with blocks that can be arranged to create a variety of results. Some of the ones Jenny lists are the double hourglass set on point, the double square, and the chevron. If you like this technique, play with the squares and see what else you can create. You may surprise yourself. The ease of creating this look may make this one of your favorite techniques.
