How to crochet the brick or block stitch (video & written instructions)

Watch the video demonstration above to learn how to crochet the brick stitch.
This brick stitch, also called the block stitch, is a popular stitch for adding dimension and interest to any crochet project. The stitch is made up, usually, of a main color and accent colors that compliment each other.
This stitch resembles blocks or bricks stacked on top of each other and creates a crochet fabric that has great coverage without many gaps or holes.
