How to make a puff quilt (video)

Little ones love to play on the floor, so having something soft and squishy for them to lie on comes in extremely handy. Of course, little ones aren't the only people who like soft, cuddly blankets. Adults love them too. For those who enjoy making quilts and blankets for others, puff quilts add a totally new dimension to quilting.
Audra Kurtz, a long time crafter, started her first crafting blog called The Kurtz Corner in 2010. Through this blog, she shares recipes and craft ideas. She also has a YouTube channel where she walks her viewers through all kinds of DIYs. One such video walks her viewers through the steps of creating a puff quilt. For the complete, step-by-step instructions for making this cuddly blanket, watch Kurtz's video below.

The number of puffs needed for this project is dependent upon whether you are making a lap blanket/baby blanket or a full-sized quilt. For the smaller blanket, you only need 128 puffs total, 64 across and 64 down. Choose fabric that goes well together and decide what kind of pattern you want your puffs to make before you begin. When you cut out your puff material, the front sides of the puffs will be larger than the backs. This allows you to fill the puffs with polyfill.
Kurtz makes sure to point out that when you sew the fronts of the puffs to their backing, you want to be sure to make the pleats all go in the same direction. Since the puffs are going to be stitched together later, you will stitch them with the wrong sides together when first creating them. Once all the puffs are finished, you then place them right sides together and start joining them. The final touches for the quilt are attaching the side pieces, the backing and the binding.
