This luxuriously thick knit, known as the woven cable stitch, creates a tight, dense fabric that's crisscrossed in a wonderfully woven pattern. New Stitch Daily explains because this stitch is pretty stiff, it's not going to drape well. So, no scarves here with this pattern - although, you will be able to knit a mean afghan or pillowcase.
Because this stitch is inherently chunky and thick - it is ideal for a ton of knitting projects too- like making nice warm gloves, hats, and mittens. We adore the lattice or basketweave pattern you get out of this stitch - and it's that tightness that makes it great for creating warm winter gear, or snuggly blankets and pillows.

The thickness of this knit also means it will work beautifully as glass coasters, pot holders, and for anything else that needs protecting. What's great is that this basket-weave pattern can really be put to many uses if you're willing to use your imagination.
Simple Knitting notes you will want to use bigger needles for this stitch - even though the end result is quite a tight fabric. And while this pattern is incredibly beautiful, it is on the more difficult side. So, beginners, grab a handful of scrap yarn and give it a practice run!
