With its twisted appearance, this stitch pattern looks like cables, but, as the name suggests, it's not actually a cable at all. The secret lies in the decreases.
If you’ve never done a double stitch decrease via the psso (pass slipped stitch over) technique, this is a great stitch pattern to practice because the result of the decrease is seen so clearly in your knitting, especially because it’s paired here with a yarn over. As with many true cable patterns, the E eyelet mock cable is knit on a reverse stockinette background to make the pattern really pop.
