Materials
You can use any weight yarn for this stitch, but a DK yarn gives a nice snuggly finish without being so chunky that you lose the intricate detail. If you're choosing a DK weight, you'll need a hook that's around the 4-5mm mark. You'll also want to have a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle at hand.
Pro tip: It can be a little hard to tell which stitch to work into next. If you are confused, look at your work from the top, and the V shape of the stitches should be clear and will guide you on where you need to go!
Abbreviations
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sk - skip
st(s) - stitch(es)

Written instructions
This pattern is made up in units of 4, so make a foundation chain divisible by four, plus one. In the video, 40 chains plus one are used.
Row 1: dc into second ch from hook, and then 1dc into each ch to end. Ch1 and turn.
Row 2: sk 1st st, dc into 2nd st, and next 2 sts. Now turn work and tr into 1st skipped st. Turn work back. Sk next st and dc into next 3 sts. Now turn work and tr into sk st as before, being careful that yarn doesn't get caught at back of work - insert hook into and out of sk st and yarn over with work behind. Repeat this pattern along row. Turn, do not ch1.
Row 3: sk 1st, dc into next 3 sts. Now tr into sk st by turning work, as before. Turn back and sk next st, dc into next 3 sts. Now tr into sk st, by turning work sideways and keeping work at the back while you insert hook.
Continue this pattern until project reaches desired length.
