Any type of yarn is suitable for this stitch, and as frequent color changes look great with it, it's a useful stash buster. Just be sure that all the yarns you use are the same weight. Check the manufacturer's band for hook size suggestions. You'll also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle to weave in your ends.

This pattern works in multiples of 10, plus 3. Start by making a foundation chain the right size for your project.
Row 1: color A: sc into the 2nd chain from the hook. *sc in next ch, hdc, dc in next 2 ch, tr in next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch, hdc, sc* Repeat until you reach the end of your chain. sc in last ch
Row 2: color B: ch 3 and turn, *tr, dc in next 2 sts, hdc, sc in next 2 sts, hdc, dc in next 2 sts, tr* Repeat to the end. Tr into last st.
Row 3: color B: ch 3 and turn, *tr, dc in next 2 stitches, hdc, sc in next 2 sts, tr, dc in next 2 stitches, tr* rep to end. Tr into last st and change color.
Row 4: color A: ch 1 and turn, *sc in next st, hdc, dc in next 2 sts, tr in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, hdc, sc* Repeat until the last stitch. Sc in last stitch.

Repeat rows 2- 5 until your project reaches the desired length. Finishing on an odd row will give a wavy edge, on an even row you'll get a straight edge.
