Materials
You can use any yarn for this project, but why not reflect the glory of this special stitch with a yarn with a bit of sheen or lurex to it? Avoid very chunky weights as you'll lose definition. Think of DK or lighter weights as ideal. Check your manufacturer's band for hook size suggestions. You'll also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle for weaving in your ends.

Special stitches involved in this pattern
This pattern calls for a double puff stitch - to create, yo, insert hook, pull up loop, yo, insert hook again, pull up loop, yo, pull through all loops on hook. It also calls for a triple puff stitch, which is made the same way but involves one more yo before you pull through all loops on the hook.

Create a foundation chain in multiples of 12.
Rows 1 and 2: start off with a row of sc into every st, starting with the 2nd st from the hook.
Row 3: ch 1 and sc into 1st sc. Ch 3, sk 3 scs. Sc into 4th st. Ch 5, sk 2, sc into 3rd st. Ch 3, sk 3, 2 scs. Ch 3, sk 3, 1 sc. Ch 5, sk 2, 1 sc. Ch 3, sk 3 and 2 sc. Ch 3, sk 3 and 1 sc. Ch 5, sk 2, 1 sc. Finally ch 3, sk 3 and 1 sc.
Row 4: ch 3 and turn. dPS into middle st of 1st ch sp. Ch 3, dPS into middle st of next ch sp, ch 5, dPS again into same ch. *Ch 3, dPS into middle st of next ch sp, ch 1, dPS into middle st of next ch sp, ch3 and dPS into middle st of next ch sp, ch 5, dPS into same ch*.
