Watch how to crochet the textured combo stitch (video and written instructions)

The textured combo stitch is an easy to master but highly addictive stitch that you'll want to use again and again. It is great for scarves, blankets, throws and even washcloths.
Even beginners can learn this stitch quickly, yet it appears complex and builds to a satisfyingly rich texture with an attractive regular pattern. Try it with a variegated yarn to make a stunning scarf, or in chunky stripes as a beautiful afghan.

Materials
The best yarns for this stitch are probably worsted, light worsted or DK weight yarns, that will bring out the lovely texture of the work without making it too clumsy or flimsy. Check your manufacturer's band for hook size suggestions. You will also need a pair of scissors and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
