Turn simple pine cones into a gorgeous bird feeder in no time

If you're a homeowner or have any kind of outdoor space, chances are you interact with the local birds. Sometimes, so much so, that you start leaving them seed to feed on or simply throw your stale bread their way at the end of the week.
But if you really want to treat these little guys, there's a simple and organic way you can do so -- and it's fun too! All you're going to need to really get your hands on is some pine cones, and we're sure you can find those lying around somewhere. Other than that, we bet you have the rest of the materials at home. Curious about this simple craft? Check out the instructions and quick video below!

Directions
1. Cut string to hang the pine cone from

First things first: Grab your string and cut it so that it is long enough to hang from a tree, window, or wherever else you plan on hanging your bird feeder.
Then, you need to securely tie it to the top of the pine cone. Try tying it to the stubby knot at the top. But if there isn't a secure spot there, you can flip it over and try the wider end as well.
2. Dip in peanut butter and nut mixture

Take your pine cone and dip it right into the peanut butter -- try not to get too sticky yourself! Then, while it's still fresh, immediately dip it into the nut mixture. You can create this yourself with what you have lying around the house, or, you can use a chunky birdseed too (it's important they can peck it off).
3. Dry, and then hang

Finally, let your pine cone dry. We suggest placing it in an upright position where it gently leans against something, or just placing it on some parchment paper to dry overnight. After that, it's ready to hang! Your local birds are going to love this all-natural treat.
