Grab a small canvas & mimic this DIY

String art is a cute and simple way to create a piece of art that doesn't require much artistic talent. Typically, string art involves wood, nails, and a hammer, but with this simple string art DIY project, no hammer is necessary because the string art is done on canvas.
This little string art canvas fits the bill if you want a cheap and simple way to add a piece of art to your space. Although the video and instructions describe how to make a heart shape, you can customize it to any shape that suits your fancy.

- Foam brush
- Quilting ruler
- Pencil
- Decorative finishing nails
- String
Instructions
1. Dab distress oxide ink around the edges of the canvas with a foam brush.
2. With the quilting ruler and a pencil, mark the places you wish to put the nails to form a heart. (The ruler helps ensure each side of the heart is symmetrical.)
3. Poke the finishing nails into the canvas with help from the pencil marks.
4. Fill in the spaces between each nail with more nails to complete the heart outline.
5. Create a loop at one end of the string and wrap it around a nail.
6. Continue to wrap the string around the nails, going in both directions to make sure the string covers the inside area of the heart.
7. Tie off the end of the string with a knot and trim off any excess string.
8. Take another piece of string and wrap it around the outside of the heart shape.
9. Tie the piece of string around the final nail with a knot and cut off any excess string.
