How to make a shoebox shelf

Most of us know that shoeboxes make convenient places to store things such as papers and old mementos, but they're not exactly the most glamorous storage solution. That can easily be changed, however, with acrylic paint and pretty paper.
These gorgeous shoebox shelves only take a few minutes to make, and you might already have all the supplies you need. Check out the video tutorial and the instructions below to learn how to make your own. Hang the new shelf on your wall and use it to display favorite lightweight decorations.

Materials
- Shoebox
- Acrylic paint
- Small palette
- Medium paintbrush
- Decorative paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Mod Podge
- Paint brush

Instructions
1. Remove the lid from the shoebox and discard.
2. Squirt some of the acrylic paint onto the pallete and cover the outside of the box in paint.
2. Place the bottom of the shoebox onto a piece of decorative paper and trace the outline of the box with a pencil. Cut along this line.
3. Paint a thin coat of Mod Podge onto the bottom of the box. Place the sheet of paper onto the Mod Podge and press it down to attach it.
4. Take a second piece of decorative paper and cut out pieces the same size as each side of the shoebox.
5. One by one, paint the inner sides of the box with Mod Podge and attach the decorative paper.
6. Allow the box to dry before hanging it on the wall.
