Transform an old jar into a sparkling Christmas luminary

When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, there’s nothing better than a little sparkle to make a big statement. A Christmas luminary complete with glitter is just what you need to put a seasonal shine on holiday decor. This year take some time to rethink the purpose of that unused jelly jar sitting in the cupboard. There’s no reason what once held preserves can’t find second life as a glittering giver of light!
This DIY project takes only a few minutes and some well-placed glue. Feel free to get creative with the colors and mix and match glitter and yarn hues to personalize the sparkling creation to your own taste and style. Arrange completed luminaries on an end-table or as a centerpiece and in no time at all, your home will be lit up and shining for the season.

Instructions
1. Remove the lid from the jelly jar or similar canning container and place the jar on a piece of cardboard to protect the work surfaces.
2. Spray the interior of the glass jar with Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Sealer or similar glass crafting glue, entirely covering the surface.
3. Fill the bottom of the jar with green glitter.
4. Replace the jar lid and, once sealed, turn upside down and shake until the glitter permanently sticks to all surfaces where glue was sprayed. Remove the lid once more.
5. Cut a long piece of brown twine and place one spot of hot-glue in the lid ridges on the outside of the jelly jar. Stick one end of the twine to the glue.
6. Following the lid ridges, circle the twine around the jar. Use another spot of glue to connect and attach at the edges.
7. Carefully cut off excess twine.
8. Cut a long piece of blue yarn. Use a dot of hot glue to attach one end directly above the brown twine.
9. Circle the twine around the jar directly above the twine and attach with a spot of glue where the edges meet.
10. Carefully cut the excess yarn.
11. Repeat this process one more time with a piece of brown twine placed directly above the blue yarn. Be sure to cut off excess twine.
