How to make tissue paper art

When you look at this tissue paper art, it seems that the gold leaves are the statement piece. It's really the background, however, that brings this canvas to life, thanks to the extra steps that turn this from a simple craft project into a true work of art.
You might be surprised to learn how simple it is to create this piece. You just crumple some tissue paper, wet it down and do a little bit of freehand painting.

Instructions
1. Lay out three different shades of green tissue paper to use for this project.
2. One by one, tear the paper in pieces. They don't need to be exact. In fact, variations in shape and size will make the piece more artistic.
3. Place the pieces all over the cardboard or canvas you are using for your background. Some places should be flat. Others should be crumpled. There is no particular way to do this, as long as you cover the entire canvas.
4. Wet down the entire project with the spray bottle of water. Let the water soak through the tissue paper.
5. Slowly remove each piece of tissue paper. A subtle artistic background should be seen on the canvas.
4. Draw a leaf in the center of the canvas with gold leaf and the paintbrush. The easiest way to do this is to draw a subtle wavy line from near the left bottom corner to up near the right top corner. Then add leaves to either side of this "stem."

5. Once it's dry, hang your artwork.
