How to make a terracotta pot with a Styrofoam cup

Anyone with a love of houseplants knows that pruning and dividing plants can be a laborious process. The cost of soil and rooting powder is often more than expected, and that does not include the cost of planters. Instead of purchasing new terracotta pots for plants, you can create faux terracotta pots out of Styrofoam cups. You'll save some money, have attractive pots and have found a use for your Styrofoam cups.
The trick of making a Styrofoam cup look like an authentic terracotta pot lies in the placement of the rim. After you have secured the rim in place, use care when painting the faux pot. Paint should not look streaky. If the paint looks uneven, apply an additional coat.

Instructions
1. Cut approximately 1/2 inch off the top of a Styrofoam cup.
2. Cut the Styrofoam ring or rim off the piece of Styrofoam removed in Step 1.
3. Snip the ring with scissors so it has an opening.
4. Wrap the Styrofoam ring around the remnants of the Styrofoam cup from Step 1. The goal is to make a new ring or rim, around the top of the cup.
5. Trim any excess Styrofoam from the ring to ensure a snug fit around the cup.
6. Glue the ring around the cop of the cup. The cup should now resemble a white plant pot.
7. Squeeze salmon or coral-colored chalk paint in a small glass bowl.
8. Dip the paintbrush into the paint and proceed to paint the exterior of the Styrofoam plant pot. Allow the paint to dry, then apply a second coat of paint.
