How to make snowy pine cones

Bring the serenity of snow inside with frost-touched pine cones on a shelf or fireplace mantel. This easy craft does not take long to make and is a good project to do with children. Placing the cones in wood tray accentuates the pine cones' earthiness, but if you do not like that look, place the pine cones with a little fake snow in a clear glass bowl.
Craft stores sell pine cones year-round, so if you want to keep the cones inside all year but desire a different look, purchase additional pine cones to decorate. For example, paint the scales orange at Halloween or pastel colors at Easter. You can change the base for the pine cones according to the chosen theme.
