How to make a jewelry tray with a plastic bottle

A jewelry collection is a precious possession in any household. Displaying favorite pieces out in the open with a see-through container or tray makes this possible. When looking for a way to keep preferred items visible while ensuring they won’t be lost to carpet, cracks or crevices, consider crafting a jewelry tray out of a used plastic bottle. Repurposing a bottle as a jewelry tray is an eco-friendly project that comes with a touch of elegance.
Transforming a plastic bottle into a chic jewelry tray requires a precision knife and some well-placed decorative lining. Allow the natural fold of the plastic bottle to keep jewelry in place from necklaces to earrings and rings. A plastic bottle jewelry tray is a simple way to recycle and enjoy a new organizational system in the home.

Instructions
1. Place a 20-ounce plastic bottle lengthwise on a protective measuring placemat.
2. Cut away the bottom and top portions using a precision knife.
3. Make a cut down the length of the bottle to unroll the plastic into a large rectangle.
4. Press two pieces of painting tape to the back of the plastic and press to attach to the work surface.
5. Measure and cut the plastic into a rectangle that is 3-1/2 inches wide and 5-1/2 inches long with the precision knife. Move the painting tape as necessary to keep the plastic attached as cuts are made.
6. Trace the plastic rectangle onto the surface of semi-transparent decorative and adhesive paper using a permanent marker.
7. Cut the tracing from the paper with a precision knife using the edge of a ruler to create a straight edge.
8. Remove the adhesive backing from the paper and press firmly to the underside of the plastic rectangle, allowing the edges of the plastic to naturally pull the decorative paper upward.
9. Place a spot of hot glue to the center of a large wooden bead. Press the bead firmly to the upper left corner of the plastic tray keeping approximately 1/2 inch from the edges.
10. Repeat with three additional beads until each corner has a bead attached to serve as a leg. Don't put jewelry on the tray until the glue has dried.
