Finally, an ultra-chic geometric table runner that's no-sew too

Up your tablescape’s style quotient exponentially by making this sophisticated geometric table runner. The table runner is a casual alternative to a formal tablecloth and way more fun than those placemats that have seen better days.

The ends of the runner are triangular and accented with sassy tassel details. You can choose to make it long enough so that the runner ends hang down from the tabletop or make it shorter so the entire runner is showcased atop the table. Not only is the shape of the runner geometric, but you can also select a fabric with a geometric pattern on it to continue the theme, as we did with the hexagonal honeycomb pattern. This project is quick, customizable and lends a festive air to even the most routine weeknight meal.

Materials
- Cutting mat
- 1-2 yards of fabric
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Plastic drafting triangle
- Fabric roller cutter
- Iron
- Tear Mender instant fabric and leather adhesive
- Frozen-pop stick
- Two pre-made tassels

Instructions
1. Place the cutting mat on the work surface and lay the fabric on it, with the right side facing up.

2. Using the ruler, measure 6 inches width-wise starting at one of the ends of the fabric piece.

3. Mark the six-inch point on the fabric with the pencil.

4. Place the drafting triangle on top of the fabric with the top point touching the pencil mark.

5. Trim the excess fabric on the outside of the right and left sides of the triangle with the fabric roller cutter.

6. The piece of fabric will now be rectangular, but with a triangular-shaped end.

7. Flip the piece of fabric over so the wrong side is facing toward you on the cutting mat.

8. At the upper right triangular portion of the fabric, fold about 1/4-inch of it over and iron it in place so the fold stays. The fabric that is folded over will be the right side of the fabric.

9. Repeat step 8 but on the left upper portion of the fabric. The top left strip of folded over fabric will lay on top of the right one at the end point.

10. Apply a dot of liquid fabric mender in between the left and right folded over fabric sections at the pointed end of the runner.

11. Spread the fabric mender a bit with the frozen-pop stick on the small area where the point is on the runner between the two folded layers of fabric.

12. Push the upper left pointed tip section onto the right pointed tip so they become glued together. Wipe away any excess fabric mender with the frozen-pop stick.

13. Repeat steps 1-12 on the other end of the runner.

14. Fold 1/4-inch of fabric over on each of the runner’s long, straight side sections.

15. Iron these folded sections of fabric down.

16. Apply a line of liquid fabric mender under the folded over fabric on either side of the runner.

17. Distribute the fabric mender evenly using the frozen-pop stick.

18. Place the folded over side fabric sections on top of the fabric mender and apply pressure so the layers stick together.

19. Apply the liquid fabric mender to the triangular outer edges of the runner's ends (except for the points which are already glued together) and down each side of the runner. Spread the fabric mender evenly with the frozen-pop stick.

20. Take a piece of plain cotton fabric with its outer edge folded over and place that side on top of the bottom of the runner with the fabric mender on its outer edge. The runner liner will be a mirror image shape of the runner and it will be fully attached to the runner, except for its pointed end sections.

21. Apply the fabric mender in between the fabric and liner layers of the runner's two pointed ends.

22. Place the looped bottoms of each of the two pre-made tassels on top of runner end that has the fabric mender on it. Lay the liner layer on top of the tassel bottom and press the pointed ends together so they hold the tassel ends securely.

23. The runner is now ready to use.
