Upgrade an old wood slice into the cutest kid craft

This adorable bear made from wood slices will perk up the wall of a child's bedroom. It's easy and quick to make, and adding foam trees around it creates a scene everyone will admire. Purchase rounds at a craft store, or carefully cut dry logs. Make sure any wood you bring inside from nature is dry all the way through and insect-free.
If you use rounds that don't retain bark around the rim, emulate the look by cutting strips of brown felt and gluing them on. Flat leather cord is another option for "bark." To place the bear head on the wall, attach double-sided, non-marking adhesive to the backs of the ears.

Instructions
1. Place the largest wood round on the brown felt and trace around it. Cut along the tracing mark. Glue the cutout to the face of the large wood round. Trim the felt around the edges. Turn the round so the felt faces up.
2. Apply glue to the bottom one-quarter of the face of a small round. Place the small round with the glue part under the large round where an ear would be. Press down to adhere. Repeat this step for the other ear.
3. Center the third small round on the large round. Lower it toward the bottom until it is 1/4 inch from the bottom edge. Glue it in place.
4. Cut out two round eyes from the black felt. Glue them northeast and northwest on the brown felt above the third small round.
5. Cut out a rounded triangle from the black felt. This will be the nose. Turn it so the point faces down. Glue the cutout on the third round, slightly above the center of the third round.
