Bring a trip to the beach indoors with this easy DIY

A trip to the beach is a cure-all for many. The sea air, salty smell, sand and shells are restorative and soothing. Recall those cherished trips to the beach every time you admire this graceful beach-themed garland, which is made out of simple, natural materials such as jute twine, string and small seashells.
This sweet garland could brighten up an outdoor dining tabletop, hang swagged or in a straight vertical line on a wall or front door, or adorn a mantel. However it is displayed, the shells will bring back memories of toes stuck in the sand, lapping waves and easy summer living.

Instructions
1. Cut about 6 inches of white string from the roll by wrapping the string around your fingers a few times.
2. Cut the string from the roll.
3. Take the loop of wrapped string off your hand, and place it on the work surface.
4. Tie some of the twine just below the top of the looped portion of the string and knot it. Cut the twine from the roll with scissors.
5. Cut the last loop of the string and unravel the loose ends to fluff out the individual fibers, creating a tassel.
6. Trim a small amount of the string ends with the scissors, making sure they are a uniform length.
7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 to make five more tassels.
8. Cut about 3 feet of twine from the roll.
9. Tie a knot at one of the ends of the piece of twine, creating a small loop.
10. Apply a dot of hot glue in the back center of each edge of a shell, and place it next to the knot at the end of the twine.
11. Apply a drop of hot glue to the knot of a tassel to secure it.
12. Slide the twine through the tassel’s loop and slide the tassel down so it is next to the shell on the garland.
13. Tie a knot in the twine to the tassel loop. Leave a small space between the shell and the tassel.
14. Repeat steps 10 to 12 until the entire length of the garland has shells and tassels hanging from it.
