Turn a terracotta pot into a seashell-adorned masterpiece in 4 simple steps

There’s something about summer that makes a seaside journey irresistible. When time or distance make a trip to the ocean impossible, there’s an easier way to keep the sea close. Taking time to add seashells to a terracotta pot turns a simple planter into a sensational summer accent piece. The beauty of this project lies in its simplicity and undeniable flair for paying homage to the sea from the comfort of home.
In short time, a terracotta pot can be transformed into a one-of-a-kind summer statement piece that’s perfect for an outdoor patio or indoor dining room table. Hot gluing clamrose seashells in a rainbow of colors to the top edge of the pot is all it takes to add seasonal detail. Paint the terracotta a pastel hue before decorating for a more nautical look. While this seashell terracotta pot could stand alone, filling it with a green houseplant is a lovely way to contrast the color of the pot and highlight the seashells as well.

Instructions
 1. Fill a small glass jar with Home Décor chalk in Willow Mist and paint the exterior of a 10-inch tall terracotta pot. Make sure the entire exterior is covered evenly with paint.
2. Apply a triangle of hot glue to the top rim of the terracotta pot once the paint is dry and press a single clamrose seashell to the glue to attach. The narrow end of the seashell should be facing down, and half an inch of the top of the shell should extend over the pot’s upper edge.
3. Glue a second seashell to the pot directly to the right of the first, allowing the edges to touch. Continue gluing shells to the upper rim of the pot until they meet at the starting point. Use a variety of seashell colors for a more dynamic final creation.
4. Place a small house plant or succulent inside the terracotta pot and set on an outdoor patio table to admire and enjoy.
