Lady grabs pallet boards, makes stylish furniture for her living room

A traditional pallet makes moving as efficient as possible, but when a pallet’s job is done, there’s always the potential for repurposing. Instead of letting a pallet sit idly in the yard, consider transforming it into a chic cube end table that’s as eye-catching as it is one of a kind. A pallet cube table is a tasteful way to incorporate a rustic touch into even the most modern of décor schemes.
Pallet boards provide the perfect base for creating this cube table that comes together with the help of some strategic tools and effort. Once cut to size, pallet boards can be combined with nails and wood glue. With this clean design, just the right wood stain makes for a flawless finish. A cube table created from a pallet can just as easily work next to the couch as it could in the center of the living room to replace a standard coffee table.

Instructions

1. Cut out 21 pallet boards measuring 20-inches in length each from the larger pallet using a handheld saw.
2. Place a single pallet board on a flat working surface and sand all surfaces with an orbital saw and P80 grit 8-hole loop disc.
3. Replace the disc with a P220 grit disc and sand the surfaces once more.
4. Repeat this sanding process on all remaining pallet boards.
5. Place two finished coffee table legs on a flat working surface and position a single pallet board at the top horizontally. Make sure the top and side edges of the pallet board and table legs are aligned.
6. Attach the right side of the pallet board to the table legs using a nail in the top and bottom corners of the board. Repeat this attachment process using two nails on the opposite side of the board as well.
7. Attach three additional pallet boards directly below the first, securing each with four nails on each corner of every board. When this step is finished, approximately 9-inches of table leg should be exposed below the fourth pallet board. This will be a side panel for the final product.
8. Create a second side panel using four pallet boards and two table legs in identical fashion.
9. Stand the two side panels up on their long edges so that the pallet boards face out on either side. Space the panels 20-inches apart.
10. Line up a single pallet board across the top edge of the two side panels. Use a T-Square and level to confirm the cube is even, then attach the panels by hammering four nails through each of the pallet boards’ four corners.
11. Attach three additional pallet boards below the first with nails and a hammer. Make sure the short edges of each board are in line with the boards on the side panels before securing.
12. Turn the table over and attach four pallet boards in the same manner to the side that remains open.
13. Stand the cube right-side up on the table legs.
14. Place the five remaining pallet boards on top, covering the opening.
15. Apply wood glue to the underside of each of the top five pallet boards and press them back down to secure to the table.
16. Cover the newly constructed pallet cube end table with wood stain and allow it to dry completely.
17. Set the cube end table next to the couch with a book and vase on top, or move it to the center of the room as a stylish and rustic-chic coffee table.
