Embellish a hairdo with a clever comb made from an old brooch

A decorative comb is an instant, fuss-free way to dress up a hairdo for a party, wedding or night out. A comb can also add sparkle to an otherwise ordinary hair day — no special occasion required. Before rushing out to the store in search of the perfect statement piece, consider repurposing an old brooch into a one-of-a-kind hair accessory.
Brooches have been around since the Bronze Age as a way to keep garments closed. These days, they often adorn shirts and jacket lapels before being tossed aside when fashion trends change. This project is a fitting opportunity to upcycle brooches and add darling details to a hairstyle without any additional cost. Make two or three for a truly eclectic look.

Instructions
1. Remove the pin and any protruding pieces from the back of an old brooch using wire cutters.
2. Sand the rough spots on the back of the brooch until smooth.
3. Attach the top edge of the side hair comb to the back of the brooch with E6000 glue. A toothpick works best for applying a precise line of glue.
4. Hold the comb and brooch together with alligator clips while the glue dries. Allow at least 24 hours for it to cure. To achieve the most durable bond, let it dry for up to 72 hours.
