Upcycle a candle jar into a pretty and polished makeup brush holder

Ever look at an old candle and wonder how to use the jar when the wick is gone? Cleaned of leftover wax, these beautiful containers offer multiple ways to get the most out of them as repurposed accessories. A makeup brush holder keeps a countertop tidy, protects brush bristles from wear and tear, and adds pizzazz to a bathroom. With a little bit of fabric and Mod Podge, it’s easy to jazz up a jar that's fit to hold a full handful of brushes, plus any other bits and bobs that need storing.
This makeup brush holder uses floral fabric and twine to achieve a sense of farmhouse chic, but there are endless options for customization. Use white fabric and black ribbon for a look that’s sleek and sophisticated. Glue a charm with a special meaning to the twine for an extra layer of personalization. There’s no reason why you can’t switch things up to get the style desired.

Instructions
1. Place the jar on the table. Measure from the neck to the bottom of the jar.
2. Lay out a piece of fabric, print-side down, that's at least as long as the circumference of the jar. Use a straight ruler and a pencil to mark the height of the jar from step 1. Make several markings along the length of the fabric.
3. Use the straight ruler to draw a line connecting the dots made in step 2. Cut the excess fabric off along this line.
4. Cut the fabric into short strips so that they're about 1/2 inch wide and as tall as the jar.
5. Pour some Mod Podge into a bowl. Add enough water to thin out the Mod Podge slightly. Stir with a paint brush. The mixture should be a slightly thicker consistency than plain water.
6. Dip a strip of fabric into the mixture. Use your fingers to wipe off the excess mixture. Place the strip inside the jar, print-side out against the glass.
7. Repeat step 6 with the next strip of fabric, placing it next to the first one. Repeat until the inside of the jar is covered with fabric.
8. Allow the Mod Podge to dry for 24 hours.
9. Wrap the twine around the neck of the jar three times, using the hot glue gun to glue the twine down as you wrap it.
