Reinvent old plastic shampoo bottles as organizers that look good

Plastic is bad for the planet. Instead of throwing it away, turn it into something useful. For example, you can use this DIY to convert old plastic shampoo bottles into brightly colored hanging containers. Punch a few holes to thread hanging wire through them and add some decorative touches to finish the job.
These small hanging containers are useful in a bathroom where they can hold toothbrushes, makeup brushes, nail clippers and other small supplies. They're also suitable for a children's play area or an office. Decorate them boldly for kids or in a more sophisticated style for yourself.

1. Wrap painter's tape around an empty shampoo bottle, approximately one-third of the way down from the top.
2. Pierce the bottle with the utility knife just beneath the bottom edge of the painter's tape. Cut along the edge to remove the top portion of the shampoo bottle. Discard the top portion.
3. Punch two holes in the plastic on the back side of the bottle near the top of the container, as far apart in width as possible.
4. Cut a piece of black wire cord and thread one end through the first hole. Use pliers to bend the wire to secure it inside the shampoo bottle.
5. Bend the wire into an inverted U-shape, bringing the other end over to the second hold. Insert it through the second hold. Use the needle-nose pliers to bend the wire to secure it inside of the shampoo bottle.
6. Press the two wire pieces together, then bend them down to form a hanger.
7. Wrap 1/2 inch-wide decorative tape in a solid color around the center of the bottle, trimming with scissors as needed.
8. Wrap 1/8 inch-wide decorative glitter tape around the center of the bottle just above the solid tape, trimming with scissors as needed.
