Repurpose an old brooch into an eye-catching cocktail ring

Few accessories make as much of a statement as an oversized cocktail ring. The glittering jewels can catch the eye and complete a look, whether you’re dressing for a casual day out or a night on the town. Rather than rush out and buy an expensive ring from the store, make a one-of-a-kind ring out of an old brooch.

This is the perfect opportunity to transform a brooch you’ve grown bored of into a dazzling bauble for your ring finger. Flea markets, consignment shops and yard sales are also great places to find secondhand brooches. It takes almost no time or effort to remove the pin and attach the brooch to a ring blank. Once the glue has cured, you have a flashy new way to show off your latest manicure.

Materials
- Brooch
- Wire cutters
- Sandpaper
- Ring blank
- E6000 glue

Instructions
1. Use wire cutters to remove the pin from the back of an old brooch.

2. Sand the rough edges left from the removal of the pin.

3. Put an eraser-sized dollop of glue on the back of the brooch.

4. Place the ring blank onto the glue and allow it to dry. Curing usually takes 24 to 72 hours, but read the package of the E6000 glue for full drying instructions.

5. Once the glue has cured, wear and enjoy your new ring!
