Bring the seaside indoors with a seashell floral arrangement

When one thinks of water flora, the images that come to mind likely are those of seaweed, algae and water lilies. However, this tutorial takes the unique beauty of the sea and brings it into the home. Seashells come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors and as long as they are clean, you can use real shells for this project.
Small conch shells or any other spiral shells work well this craft. Just makes sure any shell you choose has an opening through which you can insert twine-wrapped floral wire.

Instructions
1. Cut off five pieces of floral wire, 12 inches long each.
2. Run a short line of glue along one piece of wire, starting at one end. Press one end of twine against the glue. Run a line of glue along the twine you just glued to the wire. Start wrapping the wire with twine until you get to the bottom, periodically adding glue to keep it in place. Glue the bottom twine in place, and cut off excess twine.
3. Repeat step 2 for as many seashell stems as you would like.
4. Apply glue to 1/2 inch of the bottom of the wrapped wire. Gently insert the wire into the base of one seashell and press in pace. Repeat for each stem.
5. Arrange the seashell stems with the fake leaves. Use a rubber band to keep them together just below where the leaves end.
6. Snip all ends so they are the same length. Wrap twine around the rubber band to cover up the band. Tie this twine in place with a knot.
7. Place the arrangement in a vase or pitcher. The weight of the seashells will cause the stems to bend outward. Position the stems as you wish by bending them into place and using the faux leaves as supports.
