Incorporate literature throughout your home with this stool made from old books

The ultimate find for a bibliophile is home decor with a literary spin. Of course, a book lover will proudly display their personal library, but there are ways to include your love of literature in fun, unique ways around your home. Instead of spending your time shopping around for a book-themed item, you can make your own stool with a few old books.
We used hardcover books, which would hold up better as a stool seat and be more sturdy than paperbacks. Try to find books that are a similar size for a uniform look, or a variation of sizes for the eclectic look. For your base stool, any plain stool will work. Arrange your books however you choose, keeping in mind how weight will be distributed.

Instructions
1. Lay your plain stool on its side and grab your rope.
2. Apply a small amount of hot glue to the side of the seat and start wrapping your rope around the edge. Add lines of hot glue as you go to securely hold the rope in place.
3. Once the edge of the seat is completely covered by the spiral of rope, cut the rope and secure the end with a final dab of hot glue.
4. Stand your stool up to glue your books to the seat. Plan out your arrangement of books on the seat before using any hot glue.
5. Once you settle on a layout, use hot glue to fix the books to the seat of the stool. With the books in place, you can show off your love of books in any room of the house.
